Ttle: Mean-field dynamics for non-distinguishable particles with more than two-body interactions

Abstract: We consider multi-agent systems in the mean-field scaling with interactions that are not necessarily pairwise. In this setting, more than two agents can interact simultaneously. Such higher-order interactions naturally arise in models of social dynamics, biological systems, and synchronization of oscillators. We introduce a general framework in which agents are not necessarily indistinguishable and derive effective mesoscopic and macroscopic equations. As a main novelty, we study the regime where the order of the multiple interaction tends to infinity, leading to the derivation of new mean-field and macroscopic equations. The talk will focus more on methodological issues and less on rigorous mathematical aspects. It will be quasi-free of theorems and entirely free of mathematical proofs. Joint work with E. Trélat.

Speakers

Stefano Rossi (Dipartimento di Matematica Guido Castelnuovo, Sapienza Università di Roma)

Stefano Rossi is currently a junior researcher (RTDa) in Mathematical Physics at the Department of Mathematics  “Guido Castelnuovo” of Sapienza University of Rome. He earned his PhD in Mathematical Physics in 2023 and subsequently held postdoctoral research positions at the ETH and UZH in Zurich. His research focuses on mathematical kinetic theory, with emphasis on the rigorous derivation of kinetic equations, the long-time behavior of Vlasov-type equations, and the statistical mechanics of interacting particle systems in rarefied regimes.

Thierry Paul (Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions, CNRS Sorbonne Université Paris)

Thierry Paul is directeur de recherche in French CNRS (https://www.ljll.fr/paulth/). His main interests are in mathematics, linked with physics, mostly quantum mechanics and kinetic theory. The main directions of his research are quite diverse, from semiclassical approximation to topological quantum field theory, from mean field limit to mean field games, and from PDEs to geometry.
