EEE project. Scorza High School brings the Cosmic Box to the Montescuro Air Force Detachment

The Liceo Scientifico Scorza of Cosenza, one of the historical schools of the EEE project,  has stipulated a collaboration protocol with the Montescuro Aeronautical detachment to study the links between cosmic rays and meteorology as part of a PCTO aimed at three-year classes in astrophysics and space technologies,

On April 30th, on the occasion of the signing, the students who follow the EEE Project at the high school started the first measurement at the Air Force base using the Cosmic Box detector. Commander Alligri of the base and professors Franco Mollo and Pasquale Mazzotti were present.

The President of CREF, Angela Bracco, was invited to say a greeting in connection and congratulated the students on their enthusiasm and desire to extend and deepen the field of investigation. She then underlined how EEE is an institution’s flagship project. Moving in the wake of Fermi’s research, this project, which is both informative and educational, brings young people into contact with current scientific issues, allowing them to get hands-on with technology and data analysis – an important tool in the social and economic fields – directly experiencing the importance of collaboration in carrying out research. To greet the event, a recorded message also arrived from Antonino Zichichi, who conceived and implemented the EEE project about 20 years ago, in which he underlined the importance of studying the possible correlations between the flows of cosmic rays and meteorological events. “It was a great honour to receive this message”, declared the President, who also expressed the hope of being present at a future event to meet the boys and girls of the school and their teachers in person.
