Presentation day of the Enrico Fermi Research Center’s activities

On February 20th, the newly appointed Scientific Council and Internal Evaluation Committee met for the first time at the Fermi Research Centre to review CREF’s research projects. The Scientific Council, composed of Halina Abramowicz, Maria Josè Garcia Borge, Federico Giove, Karl Grandin and Luciano Pietronero, and the Evaluation Committee, formed by Luc Bergé, Luisa Cifarelli and Marco Durante, met on this occasion for their first time.

The high caliber of these members underscores CREF’s commitment to quality research and tackling significant scientific challenges.

CREF President Angela Bracco opened the event, highlighting the Institute’s dual mission: preserving and disseminating Enrico Fermi’s legacy, and promoting innovative scientific research. She then introduced CREF’s projects, organized into four interdisciplinary macro-areas: applied research, basic research, complexity, and the Fermi Museum.

Throughout the day, researchers and project leaders presented ongoing activities, results, and future objectives. These presentations, chaired by Tiziana di Matteo (morning) and Fabrizio Coccetti (afternoon), both members of the CREF Board of Directors, provided the Council and Committee with a comprehensive overview of CREF’s work in cutting-edge research, scientific dissemination, and the preservation of Enrico Fermi’s memory through the Museum in the historic Via Panisperna building.

Salvatore De Pasquale, CREF’s Scientific Director, concluded the conference with a review of all projects, emphasizing future developments, including the expansion of the Institute’s facilities. This expansion will create new spaces and laboratories, fostering further research and collaboration opportunities.
