CREF promotes original and high-impact lines of research, based on physical methods, but with a strong interdisciplinary character and in relation to the main problems of the modern knowledge society.
The CREF was born with a dual soul: a research centre and a historical museum. Its aim is to preserve and disseminate the memory of Enrico Fermi and to promote the dissemination and communication of scientific culture.
Higher education and projects for young researchers
The 14th edition of the International School on Magnetic Resonance and Brain Function (ISMRBF) will be held from October 24 to 29, 2025, in Erice (Sicily, Italy) at the Ettore Majorana Centre for Scientific Culture. The workshop will focus on MRI techniques and methods for the integrated study of the brain, its physiology, and its functional dynamics.
Registration and abstract submission deadline: September 24, 2025
The workshop will involve prominent national and international guests and will be dedicated to discussing the latest scientific developments. Particular attention will be paid to advances in functional imaging methods, including high-resolution fMRI techniques and the study of BOLD signal physiology. Advanced approaches to noise reduction in imaging and the development of new acquisition sequences will also be explored. A specific focus will be placed on quantitative MRI, microstructure imaging, connectivity analysis, and potential multimodal approaches to investigate underlying brain function factors.
