On October 2, 2025, the Enrico Fermi Research Centre (CREF) will host the first PhD Day of the Italian Association of Archaeometry (AIAr). This event will be dedicated to the work of PhD students specializing in science for cultural heritage, offering a valuable opportunity for exchange and discussion.

CREF’s established research line and laboratory in Physics applied to cultural heritage makes this collaboration with AIAr particularly significant. Our commitment in this field aligns perfectly with the PhD Day’s objective: to foster a network of young researchers to support their professional and scientific growth.

The day is open to contributions. The deadline for abstract submission is July 20. Key themes will include:

• New methods and technologies for diagnostics and characterization;
• Archaeological and historical studies with an archaeometric approach (dating and provenance studies, Bioarchaeology, Forensic Archaeology, Remote Sensing, Digital Twin)
• Preventive conservation, restoration, and preservation (environmental monitoring, effects of climate and microclimate on conservation, innovative methods and materials)
• Innovative approaches for data manipulation (data management, database creation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, data exchange, data fairness)
• Valorization and dissemination

Various presentation formats will be featured: talks, posters, and flash communications (short 3-minute presentations to elaborate on selected posters).

The day will include an on-site lunch and coffee breaks, concluding with a brief guided tour of the Enrico Fermi Museum.
