The CREF was born with a dual soul: a research centre and a historical museum. Its aim is to preserve and disseminate the memory of Enrico Fermi and to promote the dissemination and communication of scientific culture.

Orso Mario Corbino. Via Panisperna Research Manager
Scientist, politician and entrepreneur Orso Mario Corbino could intuit the potential of the new ideas appearing in the physics of the early twentieth century and give institutional and financial support to their realization.
To pay homage to Corbino, SIF is publishing this year, on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Society, an anthology edited by Miriam Focaccia entitled: “Orso Mario Corbino – A Research Manager at the Physical Institute of Rome”.
