CREF participates in the “Giornate della Terza Missione” at the University of Salerno

Marco Garbini, Senior Researcher at CREF (Enrico Fermi Research Center) and National Coordinator of the EEE Project, took part on December 4, 2025, in the conference “Ricerca e Sviluppo per la Transizione Sostenibile: Interconnessioni ed Ecosistemi per l’Innovazione con Enti di Ricerca”.

The event was held at the Fisciano Campus (Salerno) and was organized by the Department of Physics “E. R. Caianiello” of the University of Salerno as part of the “Giornate della Terza Missione”.

The conference provided an important opportunity for dialogue and reflection on the value of knowledge and the common good, hosting contributions from several leading Research Institutions.

The conference opened with institutional greetings from Rector Virgilio D’Antonio, Carmine Attanasio, Director of the “E.R. Caianiello” Department of Physics, the Hon. Guido Milanese, Advisor to the Minister of the Environment, and an introductory speech by Maria Sarno, the Department’s delegate for the Third Mission.

Among others, the conference then featured a presentation by the Scientific Director of CREF, Salvatore De Pasquale, entitled “Scientific Research Toward the Sustainable Transition: Collaboration Among Universities, Institutions, and Enterprises.”

In his talk, Marco Garbini presented CREF to an audience made up of high school and university students, as well as numerous lecturers and researchers, highlighting the strong bond between the Center and the University of Salerno. After recalling the Institute’s history and mission, he illustrated the Third Mission activities carried out within the EEE Project.

CREF’s presence at the conference reaffirmed the strength of its collaboration with the Department of Physics of Salerno, which began with the EEE Project and was later expanded to include further research and development initiatives. Over the years, this cooperation has significantly contributed to the growth and innovation of both institutions.

Garbini concluded with the following remark: “In light of this journey, I believe—and sincerely hope—that our collaboration can continue and grow even stronger in the future”.
