third mission

The CREF was born with a dual soul: a research centre and a historical museum. Its aim is to preserve and disseminate the memory of Enrico Fermi and to promote the dissemination and communication of scientific culture.

European Researchers’ Night in Rome

cover_notte_ricerca_2025

The Enrico Fermi Research Center and Historical Museum (CREF) will actively participate in the 2025 edition of the European Researchers’ Night, the annual event promoted by the European Commission, which this year will take place on September 26 and 27. CREF will be a partner in the NET – scieNcE Together project, confirming its commitment to making science accessible and engaging for the general public.

CREF at the NET Village

The heart of the initiative will be the NET Village, set up at the Città dell’Altra Economia in Rome on September 26 and 27. In this “science village,” CREF will offer the public a program of interactive activities to explore its research, from fundamental physics to applications in biology, finance, and social sciences. Visitors can meet researchers, participate in workshops and talks, and discover how research contributes to the progress of society, just as the exceptional scientist Marie Skłodowska Curie—this year’s key figure—did.

Over the two evenings, CREF will participate with stands and workshops, the preview screening of the film “La ragazza di via Panisperna” about Ginestra Giovene Amaldi, the “Inside Marie” event on Marie Curie’s medical work and current developments, and the show “Dalla Terra alla Luna.”

The free initiative aims to break down barriers between research and society, bringing science directly to public squares and community spaces.
