CREF promotes original and high-impact lines of research, based on physical methods, but with a strong interdisciplinary character and in relation to the main problems of the modern knowledge society.
The CREF was born with a dual soul: a research centre and a historical museum. Its aim is to preserve and disseminate the memory of Enrico Fermi and to promote the dissemination and communication of scientific culture.
Higher education and projects for young researchers
How can you see something so small that even a powerful microscope can’t magnify enough? The particles studied in physics are invisible to our eyes, but we can “see” them thanks to the traces they leave as they pass, for example in a gas. Each has its own movement, a kind of unique fingerprint that depends on the mass, the charge, its particular characteristics.
Michela Marafini of the Enrico Fermi Research Center has created a very special version of the Memory game.
The laboratory, presented for the first time at the Researchers’ Night on 29 September, is currently at the Genoa Science Festival, in the Kids Space of Palazzo Ducale. Thanks to the organization of the Festival and the work of its entertainers, around 1500 girls and boys aged 4 to 11 learned to know and recognize the properties of some elementary particles starting from their footprints
