Abstract

Enrico Ferraris will discuss the application of archaeometry as a standard method for studying and narrating the Egyptian Museum collection. Starting from the introduction of archaeometry as a research axis in 2015, some significant examples will be presented, such as the TT8 project and the 2019 “Invisible Archaeology” exhibition. During the seminar, he will discuss how humanities and natural science have become an integral part of a holistic vision, which, at the Egyptian Museum, increasingly links research and dissemination as moments of a single cultural trajectory.

Bio of Enrico Ferraris

Enrico Ferraris has been a curator at the Egyptian Museum since 2013. He worked for the excavation mission of the University of Turin in Alexandria, Egypt (2001-2007) and for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo (Grand Egyptian Museum, 2004). He is responsible for the analysis program of the finds from the intact tomb of Kha and Merit, called the TT8 Project (2018-2023). He curated the temporary exhibitions “Invisible Archaeology” and “Aida, daughter of Two Worlds”.
