CREF promotes original and high-impact lines of research, based on physical methods, but with a strong interdisciplinary character and in relation to the main problems of the modern knowledge society.
The CREF was born with a dual soul: a research centre and a historical museum. Its aim is to preserve and disseminate the memory of Enrico Fermi and to promote the dissemination and communication of scientific culture.
Higher education and projects for young researchers
I became a permanent researcher at the Enrico Fermi Research Center in 2010 and Research Director in 2020. I was at the University of Geneva and the University of Paris XI for about 10 years, where I developed the core of my research activity, which included topics on the interface between complex systems, astrophysics, and gravitational dynamics. Furthermore, I have worked on the kinematics and dynamics of the Milky Way and external galaxies, developing a new mass model with interesting implications for the distribution of dark matter. I have published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and around 40 international conferences and workshops proceedings. Furthermore, I am co-author of the technical monograph “Statistical Physics for Cosmic Structures” published by Springer Verlag (2005) and of the book “Dynamics and Thermodynamics of Systems with Long-Range Interactions” published by the American Institute of Physics (2008). In addition to strictly physics problems, I am interested in research policy and the epistemology of science, topics on which I have written several essays published in Italy and abroad.
