Angela Bracco

Angela Bracco graduated from the University of Milan in 1979. She subsequently obtained a PhD in Physics (TRIUMF laboratory in Vancouver and University of Manitoba in Canada) in 1984. From that year onwards, she held academic positions at the University of Milan, where he has been a full professor since 2002. Her research is in experimental nuclear physics (in particular, gamma spectroscopy for nuclear structure). As part of this research you have spent many periods abroad, including several at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen and more recently a period at CERN. She is currently involved in experiments on the structure of nuclei far from stability in several laboratories in Europe, the USA and Japan.

You have acquired particular experience in research management. She has been a member of numerous committees, panels and scientific councils dealing with particle and nuclear physics activities, technical developments and applications. She has been a member of European, USA and Japan evaluation commissions. She was president of the Nuclear Physics Board of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), a member of the INFN board in the EU project management committee and president of the European Collaboration Committee for Nuclear Physics (NuPECC) for six years.

She was a member of the Executive Board of the European Physical Society (EPS) and the International Affairs Committee of the American Physical Society (APS). She is also a member of the Academia Europaea, the Academy of Sciences of the Institute of Bologna, and the Lombard Institute. You have been president of the Italian Physics Society since 2020.

The President has the legal representation of CREF, ensures the unity of its scientific direction, supervises its activities and is responsible for national and international relations. In carrying out his duties, the President has the right to grant delegations and powers of attorney. The President is appointed by the Minister of University and Research and remains in office for four years.
