CREF Team Finalist in CodeFest 2024 Generative AI Challenge
A research team from CREF has been selected as one of the six finalists of the CodeFest 2024 on generative AI. The challenge was to present a project on the use of Generative AI to analyze patents. The team, composed by Andrea Tacchella, Enrico Fenoaltea and Filippo Santoro (CREF) in collaboration with con Giordano De Marzo and Segun Aroyehu (Konstanz University) explored the potential of generative AI to analyze patents and predict future innovations. To achieve this, the researchers developed a visualization tool that leverages patent embeddings. By encoding patent text into high-dimensional vectors, the tool creates a low-dimensional visual representation of patent clusters, enabling the identification of trends and potential future technology combinations. CodeFest is a series of coding competitions focused on utilizing patent data to address contemporary challenges. By providing access to the European Patent Office’s (EPO) data and services, it empowers developers to innovate and solve real-world problems.
The top three teams of CodeFest 2024 will be announced on December 4th at the Patent Knowledge Forum, the EPO’s flagship event for the patent information community.
