CREF promotes original and high-impact lines of research, based on physical methods, but with a strong interdisciplinary character and in relation to the main problems of the modern knowledge society.
The CREF was born with a dual soul: a research centre and a historical museum. Its aim is to preserve and disseminate the memory of Enrico Fermi and to promote the dissemination and communication of scientific culture.
Higher education and projects for young researchers
The event “Brainhack Rome 2025: connecting the dots between structure and function” will take place at CREF on April 8 -11. The Brainhack is a non-competitive hackathon, a multi-day event
where participants work in groups on proposed projects of interest. This event aims at fostering networking, experience exchange and open science practices. Projects involving neuroscience,
neuroimaging and complex systems, including for example connectivity, artificial intelligence and clinical MRI applications, are welcome. The goal of the projects is the development of new software tools, modeling and simulations, and/or sharing of resources for the neuroscientific community. Everybody can propose a project or take part in one of the other projects proposed. The event is primarily thought for PhD students and postdocs, but participants with any level of experience are also welcome.
